The youngster, who arrived from the United Kingdom on December 17, 2021, was proved to be infected with Omicron, according to a test report from the National Institute of Virology in Pune, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told PTI on Monday.

The state administration, according to Rane, will follow the central government’s protocol and take strict actions if needed.

Following the announcement of the impending New Year celebrations, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has already urged tourist stakeholders to be careful and ensure that COVID-19 does not spread during the festivities.

On Sunday, Goa recorded 25 new cases of coronavirus, increasing the state’s total infection count to 1,80,050, while the death toll remained at 3,519, according to official data.
