The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) had previously decided not to open schools in its area on December 1st due to the probable threat of the Omicron form of coronavirus.

There are 1,85,279 pupils in Lessons 1 through 7 in 504 schools in the NMC area, according to an official announcement, with at least 60% of parents consenting to resume physical education classes.

In rural areas, schools returned in September for grades 5 to 8, and in urban areas, schools reopened in September for grades 8 to 11.
