OxygenOS 11.0.5.1 is now available for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series

The update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series includes the December 2021 Android security patch.

The OxygenOS update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series devices resolves a problem that prevented users from sending and receiving media on WhatsApp. The update includes the Android security patch for December 2021. Only the OnePlus 7T update is available in India. In May of this year, the OnePlus 7 series was released, followed by the OnePlus 7T series in September. Android 9 Pie was pre-installed on the OnePlus 7 series, while Android 10 was pre-installed on the OnePlus 7T series.

In a couple of posts on its Community Forum, OnePlus released the OxygenOS 11.0.5.1 update for the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T, and OnePlus 7T Pro. In Europe and other areas of the world, all four devices are getting the update. Only the OnePlus 7T series is receiving the update in India.

The OxygenOS update fixes the problem of customers being unable to transmit and receive media on WhatsApp, as previously reported. Starting in 2019, OnePlus has improved the system stability on all four flagship smartphones. The update includes the Android security patch for December 2021.

The update will be released in stages, with only a small number of users receiving it at first. If no serious flaws are found, the update will be handed out to the remainder of the users in the next days. Users are urged to update their cellphones while they are charging and linked to a strong Wi-Fi network. All users should receive the update over-the-air. Users who are particularly interested in the update should navigate to Settings > System > System updates and manually check for it.

The OnePlus 7 series was released in May 2019 and came with Android 9 Pie pre-installed. In September 2019, the flagship devices received Android 10, and in March 2021, Android 11. In September and October, the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro were released, respectively. Both phones came with Android 10 out of the box and were updated to Android 11 at the same time as the OnePlus 7 series.
