India, New Delhi: Due to a spike in Covid instances across the country, particularly the Omicron type, several cities and states, including Delhi, Mumbai, Odisha, Punjab, and West Bengal, have proclaimed the closure of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. The Punjab government recently issued an order to shut down all offline operations at educational institutions, including schools and universities. According to the government’s order, medical and nursing schools may continue to operate normally.
According to India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 37,379 new Covid cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, with 1,892 omicron cases detected on January 4th morning. Maharashtra leads the way with 568 omicron cases, followed by Delhi and Kerala with 382 and 185 cases, respectively.
In the meantime, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have decided to hold term 2 board exams in March-April 2022, with date sheets due soon. A few state boards, notably Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Bihar, have already announced their board exam dates for 2022.
